Oliver Litigation has changed its name to Diamond Willow Law Office.

This change reflects the firm’s relocation from downtown Edmonton to Alberta’s Lakeland region, the deeply wooded, resource-rich homeland of Cree peoples.

Our office sits between Missawawi Lake (in Cree, pronounced “MIH-sih WAH-wah-wih SAH-kah-HIH-kun”, meaning “big egg lake”) and Kinosiu Lake (pronounced “KIH-noo-sayw SAH-kah-HIH-kun”, meaning “fish lake”).

Cree peoples have long harvested food and medicines from this special territory, a protected bird habitat, and among those, diamond willow holds a sacred place for its healing qualities.

The wood itself is a record of resilience, endurance, and transformation. Its distinctive diamond patterns form as the tree heals from injury or infection.

Diamond willow thrives where our firm’s located, so much so that when we moved in, we found a plaque on the undeveloped land commemorating the area as Diamond Willow Cove, est. 2021, with a notation for truth and reconciliation.

As you can see, our firm name chose itself, reflecting our commitment to providing legal services in a way that promotes healing, for clients and communities alike.
